Nigerian police authorities have detained three officers following the reported theft of household items at the former residence of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja.
According to PUNCH, the policemen would soon face orderly room trial after which they would be dismissed from service for theft.
The items were alleged to have been stolen by the officers from the residence located at No. 89, Fourth Avenue in the Gwarimpa district of Abuja.
Feralgang.com learnt that the stolen items include sets of furniture, dozens of plasma television sets, refrigerators, air-conditioner units and box-loads of clothes such as designer suits imprinted with the former president’s name, male and female Ijaw traditional attires, lace materials and bowler hats.
A source, who is familiar with the investigation into the case, said that the policemen who were guarding the residence had admitted to selling some of the items which they allegedly stole from the house.
The Federal Capital Police Command, in a statement, said it had commenced investigation into the case, adding that preliminary investigation indicated that some items were “found to be missing in the house.”
“The policemen who are supposed to be on guard duty at the house have been detained for questioning. Investigation to find out what actually happened is currently in progress,” the statement by the police spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, said.
