Garba Salisu the Director of Relief, Niger State Emergency Management Agency, has said 14 people lost their lives due to flooding in different parts of the state on Saturday. He spoke to NAN, on Saturday in Minna, noting that at least 200 local divers had been engaged to assist in rescue efforts.
He said the local divers would complement the efforts of the state emergency agency, whenever the need arose. He highlighted ways to tackle flooding, and appealed to residents to desist from building on waterways and stop indiscriminate dumping of refusee.
He also urged communities experiencing gully erosion to relocate whenever the threat of flood became high.
